Miss Roberts' class was planning the school fête.
They wanted to raise money for homeless children.
罗伯茨老师的班级正在筹划开一个游园会。
他们希望通过这个方式为无家可归的孩子们筹集资金。
"We need to make some signs," said Miss Roberts.
"Joe, could you make one for the cake table?
Tina, could you make one for the hot dog stand?"

"James," said Miss Roberts, "will you see to the flyers?
We'll need lots of them to bring in the crowds.
Brainstorm some ideas and then use the computer."

好好想出一些点子，你还可以利用下电脑。”罗伯茨 老师说。
James went to the computer room.
"Where can I find lots of flyers for the school fete?" he thought.
Then he had some ideas.
詹姆斯去了电脑室。
“我在哪儿能找到许多flyers （飞行物）来宣传学校的游园会呢? ”他想。
过了一会儿，他就有了主意。
He sent an e-mail to the airport.
It said,“ Our school is having a fete to raise money for homeless children.
Please can you send us an aeroplane?"
他给机场发了一封电子邮件。
上面写着: “为了给无家可归的孩子们筹集资金，我们学校要举办一场游园会。”
你能给我们派架飞机来吗?”
Soon an e-mail came back from the airport.
"We will see what we can do,"
it said.
"Yes!" said James.
很快，从机场收到了一封电子邮件。
邮件里写道:“我们 期待我们可以做些什么。”
“ 太好了! ”詹姆斯叫道。
Then he sent an e-mail to the Bird Centre at the zoo.
It said, "Our school is having a fete to raise money for homeless children.
Please can you send us some birds to show at the fete?"
接着，他给动物园的飞禽中心发了一封电子邮件。
上面写着: 上面写着:“为了给无家可归的孩子们筹集资金，我们学校要举办一场游园会。”

An e-mail came back.
It said,“ We will see what we can do.
"Yes!" said James.

Then James sent an e-mail to the butterfly farm.
He sent an e-mail to the toy shop.
然后，詹姆斯给蝴蝶农场发了一封电子邮件。
接着，他又给玩具店发了一封电子邮件。
Just then Miss Roberts came in.
“ How are you getting on with the flyers?" she asked.
“ Don't worry, Miss Roberts," said James.
"There will be lots of flyers for the school fete."
"Good!" said Miss Roberts.
就在这时，罗伯茨老师进来了。
“你的flyers （宣传单）做得怎么样了? ”她问。
“别担心，罗伯茨 老师，”詹姆斯说 ，
“ 将会有很多flyers （飞行物）出现在游园会上。”
“ 太好了! ”罗伯茨老师说。
The day of the school fete came.
James was pleased because the flyers had arrived.
Miss Roberts was worried because very few people had arrived.
学校游园会的日子到了。
詹姆斯很高兴，因为他邀请的flyers （飞行物）都到了。
罗伯茨老师很担心，因为来游园会的人很少。
There was a man from the butterfly farm with lots of colourful butterflies.
There was a woman from the toy shop with balloons and kites.
一个从蝴蝶农场来的男人，带来了很多五颜六色的蝴蝶。
一个从玩具店来的女人，带来了很多气球和风筝。
There was a man feeding an owl that sat on his hand.
There was a small aeroplane buzzing overhead.
还有一个人正在喂一只坐在他手上的猫头鹰。
头顶上，有一架小型飞机嗡嗡作响。
Suddenly the aeroplane landed in the school playing field.
The pilot got out.
"Just what do you think you are doing?" said Miss Roberts crossly.
“ He's one of the flyers," said James.
突然，那架飞机降落在学校的操场上。
飞行员下了飞机。
“你知道你在干什么吗 ?”罗伯茨老师生气地说。
“他是 flyers（飞行物）之一啊！”詹姆斯说。
“ What do you mean, James?" asked Miss Roberts.
Then she saw the butterflies, the kites and the birds.
"Oh, James," she said, “ I didn't mean that kind of flyers.
I meant publicity flyers to let people know about the fete!"
“你这是什么意思，詹姆斯 ?”罗伯茨老师问。
这时，她又看到了那些蝴蝶，风筝和飞鸟。
“哦，詹姆斯 。我不是指那种flyers （飞行物）。
我的意思是公共宣传的flyers （宣传单），让更多人了解咱们的游园会! ”罗伯茨老师说。
"I have an idea!" said James.
And he ran over to the school fence.
“我有个主意 !”说着，詹姆斯就跑向学校的围墙。
James came back carrying the school fete banner.
He gave it to the pilot.
詹姆斯拿着游园会的宣传横幅回来了。
他把横幅给了飞行员。
James and the pilot climbed into the aeroplane and took off.
A big banner flew out behind the aeroplane.
It said, "Come to the most amazing school fete ever!"
詹姆斯和飞行员爬进飞机，两人飞上了天。
一个大大的横幅在飞机后面飘扬，
上面写着: “快来参加前所未有的、最令人惊奇的游园会! ”
Lots of people saw the banner and came to the school fete.
很多人看到了横幅，大家纷纷来了游园会。
The school raised lots of money for homeless children.
Television people came to see James.
They asked about the flyers.
学校为无家可归的孩子们筹集了不少资金。
电视的工作人员前来采访詹姆斯。
他们想了解詹姆斯的flyers （飞行物）。
"This is the best school fete we've had," said Miss Roberts.
"With some of the best flyers ever.
Well done, James!"
